Global safety monitoring of fuel cell hydrogen tanks

The automotive and logistics industries see great future potential in fuel cell engines, as CO2-free transport is already possible with hydrogen. Mechanical engineering also sees its advantages in terms of reduced fuel costs and cost-efficient production of fuel cell stacks through to entire vehicles. The hydrogen tanks in which the fuel cells are transported are subject to special safety transport guidelines, such as temperature and pressure. INTRANAV enables end-to-end safety monitoring / track & trace with the use of SMART sensors to detect e.g. shock, gas leakage, temperature, as we did for the safety transport solution with lithium-ion battery boxes or gas cylinders containers and other safety tanks.

In this case, the RTLS IoT platform also acts as an early warning system, by monitoring the inside of the hydrogen container. Thermal reactions are detected and a warning message is immediately transmitted, enabling fast initiation of safety measures.
